- Succeeds veteran Janet Silver in top slot after takeover
- Will oversee field guides, cookbooks, and adult fiction/nonfiction
The New York Times reports that Harcourt trade division publisher Becky Saletan has been promoted to publisher of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Adult Trade Books, “A combined unit that resulted from Houghton Mifflin parent Riverdeep’s recent $4 billion takeover of Harcourt.” She succeeds veteran Houghton publisher Janet Silver, a casualty of the buyout, who leaves the publisher after 24 years. Saletan will oversee the Houghton and Harcourt’s field guides, cook books, and adult fiction and nonfiction trade titles. Houghton parent company, Riverdeep, acquired Harcourt last July from Reed Elsevier.
